Vultures
Black vulturesGathering round my head,
Sunbathing in Sinai,
Friends had gone ahead.
Eyes opened,
I suddenly
Knew what
They knew:
No water,
No friends,
She won't
Last long.
And so
They waited
And watched
Patiently,
Circling my
Marked
Head.
For they knew
A serpent
Was on its
Way.
He too
Sensing
Easy prey.
I hauled up
My bikini,
And barefoot,
Ran for my life.
