Empty on the Reef Line
Sometimes the sun seems so far awayDistant and severed just like today
Steel cage clouds hold my spirit down
The sky like an open wound, infected
Pours pain on the lonely of heart
And distain on the lost, lacking of will
The cadence of a barrage of waves
Cleaves sections of hope from my soul
And I am left empty in the reef line
And then, beneath a leavened watery sky
We all can live in our faceless pretence
Our tears anointed and washed away
