Child's Play

The victim of heartbreak
The forgotten one is neither lover, no...
Heart still pure and open
One life does not belong to another

How can one gaze into pools of blue
And not see a life created in love?
Not feel compassion, empathy...
For the one caught in the middle?

Begging eyes, your innocent child
I love you both, please, please STOP!
My existence is not your competition
And I, am not your trophy

The last two lines are very telling. Being the basis of all society, perhaps we should all be given a compulsory course on how NOT to raise children.
Thank you.
