I see
I am the fly on the wallthe gentle listener that has the ability to disappear by just closing my mouth
and even sometimes while speaking
I am the observer
the one you think isn't listening or watching, believing I am lost in my own mind
or just shy
I see
I know
I predict
every move
every hidden expression on your face
every twitch of your fingers
I have a whole world inside me
of knowledge of the real world and how people are
and a whole world to get lost in and hide from the
unbearable pain of the real world
I am real
and when challenged I will do what is right
But my mask is not real
this whole persona you see
the body language
use of voice
how I say things
the way I smile
is a creation
that does not necessarily speak of me
rather more of what I have met
I stay hidden behind my secret smiles
and the glimpse of something unexpected in my eyes
If you want to see me
Come watch the world with me
Come look into my past
Come listen to my choices and my feelings about them
If you don't want this, but want me
You want my mask
But never me
