Fresh Breath
A gasp of air flows into my lungsrevitalizing my heart
hearing it beat again, it's first trembling beats
since it broke
So many years with frustration
losing hope
Wondering why I was so sad
angry
why I couldn't feel anything anymore, other than irritation
your smile as a catalyst
a spark
of all those memories, reminding me how to smile, really smile
and enjoy, really enjoy
life
His words
finally making me cry, gasp for air, longing for the things I almost threw away
I long
but not down that road I took before
Now, again, like back when I was young and stubborn and beautiful
I can feel Him in every atom around me
the hope, the love
a soft humming, barely noticeable
without which the world feels cold
and I have been freezing
