Consumed

Void

What used to be full now empty
Its livelihood sucked out by greed
The lust for more draining what was good
And leaving nothing in its place
But misguided dreams

Empty

A shell of the past
Consumed by the present
And discarded by the future
The vicious cycle of time
Taking its own

Consumerism does consume.
Shame, shame on greed and avarice.
We should all participate in sustainable activities.

John Ashleigh The PoetBay support member heart!
A feeling many people experiance, yet hardly ever noted. I think this is a really clever poem - sophisticated and divine. To be consumed, is to know you care. Thankyou for sharing.

Regards,
John.
