Overmind

Always thinking
analyzing
creating analogies and hypothesizing potential situations
likely and unlikely
Picking apart every piece of information from all situations in my life,
and the lives of others, past and present
Recombining them into new situations
tweaking parameters of operation
testing it against my conscience
testing it against practical applicability

..and people tell me I think too much
that I should stop over-analyzing
stop fretting

Even if my emotions might be over-reacting to a specific situation I am testing in my mind
..they call it obsessively fretting
Even if my mind might be too occupied because one of my Socratic voices is given too much time
..they call it being distracted

And sure, one of the hypotheses I'm running might get stuck on repeat, because of lack of information

And I might not know what to say when someone talks to me, because I'm still working on the answers, or am focused on some obscure aspect of the subject

It's worth it
and no, I won't turn it off

Because
meeting complete silence
when I ask my mind a question of extreme importance

or being so numb that I can't think for years at a time

is so much more terrifying
