Quivering HeartBeats

She sings those words desperately as they echo out in a hollow tone, no one to catch them as they come forth.

Thinking of him reminded her of the last years. The heavy, numbing pain of not being caught when her heart leapt upon him

Maybe I didn't leap with all my heart

But that only matters now, because,
he never caught her with all of his

And though he kneeled into the dust before her
he would not take her hand, pull her down and claim her

Maybe she didn't give him her hand with all her heart
Maybe I am making this part of the story of our broken hearts up

because the crippling hollow echo of knowing that she gave everything, all
to a man that could not receive it
is more than I can bear

If you, the man I am looking for,
were to stand before me now
claiming my hand
ready to catch me...

..I do not think
I would dare jump..
