A silent anniversary.
(von Paulus,Zhukov,Koniev,and Rokossovsky).

Stalingrad

The smiling faces,blue and taut
Recalled the futile battle fought
The silent fields of frozen dead
The senseless goals for which they bled

I walked across those fields this Spring
I couldn't find a single thing
Through hunger,cold,they carried on
Where have all the heros' gone

Friend and foe are buried here
In verdant soil, but have no fear
Another day,another way
Death will come again to play

Hopefully death will not come again to play. This poem evokes deep memories and fears. An excellent poem. Peter
