Different
Oh we weep and we cry and we shiver cold!in shame and self-hate
We who always thought we would be better
We who were always told we would change the world
I watch him as he cries in despair and bitter anger
no longer being able to hide from the thought that
he never became someone he could love and respect
I watch you as you reside behind layers of systems of logic and
models of behaviour
my gentle, raw, honest questions piercing through
revealing a shame, a guilt
that leaves me bare to you
I see myself as I desperately try to keep the balance
find my own road to walk
that other, higher road feeling so beyond my reach
If I take one step on it I stumble and fall as my love falters
We reach out into the world
desperately looking for the others like us
or accepting that we are no different
She speaks of erosion
He speaks of darkness and fear
You speak of arrogance
But as I look into their eyes
our theories and systems and models and analogies
falter or fade
No matter how much we wail and cry in despair and shame
taking their hands, embracing them and letting ourselves love
becomes the only thing that matters
