Call me a nihilist but hey, it's where I'm at...

In The Beginning

in the beginning
there was no beginning
in the end

there was no end

and in the middle of this -

at a miniscule point in time -
there existed a group of organisms
known only to themselves as humans.

they tried valiantly

to convince themselves
that their existence
was somehow,
important.

however,

they too –

like all else -

eventually faded toward the sweet unknowing of nothingness –
and it wasn’t all that bad there.

Enjoyed this, especially the last stanza. We do tend to be full of our own self importance.

Strikes at the hubris of homo sapiens. We're just a minute blink in time and space. Well written and insightful.
