A Silly Villanelle

I want to write a villanelle;
I want the words to twirl and dance,
to twist and spin and swirl and swell.

I want to weave a rhythmic spell
that puts the world in peaceful trance:
I want to write a villanelle.

I want to tell and then retell
my dual refrain; and have a chance
to twist and spin and swirl and swell.

My duel refrain? And if one fell?
Back off, good sir, and drop your lance--
I want to write a villanelle.

If you would fight, then at the bell
remember, as you take a stance,
to twist and spin and swirl and swell.

But that is rubbish; all is well;
What Line 1 said, he now recants.
[I want to write a villanelle,
to twist and spin and swirl and swell.]

This makes me chuckle. I like that you made something fun. So often our work can be bogged down in the drudgery of sad emotions, but this was bouncy and enjoyable. It reminds me of the frist villanelle I published on poetbay... entitled: A Villanelle... teehee. Just in the sense that it is about writing and it is in villanelle form. Write more dear Baskenmütze.

What a beautiful write, Baskenmütze.
I've never come across a villanelle before and this serves as a fine introduction. The twirling, dancing, spinning and swirling to which you allude in the first verse are echoed perfectly in the structure of the piece.
And you are correct: all is well and there is no need for a duel! I love this.
Applause!

More whimsical than silly . . . nicely done.
