Holding on and Drowning

I wrote something in the sand
And the waves erased it.
I dropped a tear in the sea
But no one can see.

I thought of letting go,
Grab to something to hold on.
A wave banged against the rock,
Should I grab the next?

And as I jumped off the rock,
I tried to hold on to the wave...
...but it left drowning...
And vanished as it reached the shore.

And I'm still drowning...
The rock remained.
