Inspired by a poem I read by Spike Milligan of his own daughter...

Stella

oh how your questions delight me
your logic,
your smile,
your tears
and your early wisdom

I never told you to love me
yet every day we are together
you tell me many times
without effort
not obliged by our blood connection

and I marvel at my good fortune
to have one like you
who asks like I was frightened to
who challenges like I never could
whose purity gives me a glimpse of my own childhood

my life is richer for you in it
without you knowing
in your carefree dance and song
my daughter, my guide, my angel
Stella

The delight of early wisdom often stops us in our seemingly wise tracks and challenges our wisdom. As Wordsworth put it, "the child is father of the man" And the mother too presumably ;o) Great writing. Peter

I really loved this, - especially the 'not obliged by our blood connection'

Children just love unconditionally and if only everyone would realise that,

Quite beautiful, thank you
