Just...Wasn't

Just wasn't yesterday
that I began to fade away,
melting into the
pale gray walls,
overcome by rules and laws.

There is no escape
from a loneliness
that becomes my drape.

I am shrouded in sorrow
casting dread on tomorrow.
I want to kiss them all goodbye
and go to the place where
my pain can't cry.

But Hell is here...
and so am I.

Excellently written, but oh so sad. I like the last line of the first stanza, that those rules and laws are part of what causes us to fade. You certainly don't come across as faded or gray here.

This poem captures the insatiable curse of loneliness and sorrow that those who have been there can only know. But Hell has an opposite ... casting off the drape. Such wonderful writing. Peter

You write like me
comes from the heart
the only way
