I was out in my backyard reading a book and remembered this summer poem. I reworked it and hope it's a nice read on a sunny day.
stenciling the fresh cut grass.
My beagle spreads a carpet
with his lazy whiskered sleep.
I read a book with squinted eyes,
and drink ice tea in measured sips.
Life slows to a leisured crawl,
in my backyard paradise.

My Backyard Paradise
The sun stretches across my lawn, stenciling the fresh cut grass.
My beagle spreads a carpet
with his lazy whiskered sleep.
I read a book with squinted eyes,
and drink ice tea in measured sips.
Life slows to a leisured crawl,
in my backyard paradise.
