when the light is in the sky

it’s always easier when the light is in the sky
no past reflections permeate the place inside
no childhood traumas
no bad reminders
no internal binding
to the darkness of the night

youth provided a touch of life through innocent eyes
to view a world that glistened and never lied
to savour purity
to learn with certainty
to be without reminding
no thought of infractions in the night

at some point the line is crossed
where meaning loses meaning
and means something else
the innocence of youth can be a saviour
if it can be remembered
if it can be distinguished between day and night

it’s always easier when the light is in the sky

I wouldn't be able to fully describe the precise reasons for it, but when I read this, it feels very soothing to me. A wish on the wind, perhaps. Maybe a personal yearning of some sort. Anyway, thought I'd let you know that I liked what it conjured up as feelings for me. Thanks.

This touches a grateful place in my own remembering, especially the second stanza. And "at some point the line is crossed," though we don't realize it at the time, or at least I didn't. Being no doubt much older than you I can say that late in life we try to find that line and cross back, even if only in memories and poems.
