Artery of Mankind

I cast myself into the world
and she greets me with open arms
and she wounds me with cries of want

With my heart I cause her to beat wondrous tunes
With my heart she rips me open

With my hands I heal and hold near those that need protecting
With my hands she has me scratching manically at cold and consuming hearts

I cast myself into the world
with my eyes set upon the heavens
with my feet useless and bloodied stumps

She cannot catch me, though she can tear me apart
She cannot own me, though she can deny me

I cast myself into the world
but I am the one that will devour her numbing cold

And this is basically why I am drawn to your words: because they always seem to mirror some experience I have previously known.

Beautiful.

Thank you.
