. . . and sinners the value of forgiveness.

The Bard said that in giving mercy (and by extension forgiveness I think) we also receive them:

"The quality of mercy is not strain'd,
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath: it is twice blest;
It blesseth him that gives and him that takes"

I've not given it a lot of thought but this seems true of all the many means and words that love is called by.
