Golden Leaves

Golden leaves unravel
in tenderness
and through love.
They are held in the presence
of a love so strong
that beaded drops of falling rain
simply disperse from their shining structures
and fabric of being.

These leaves open,
coaxed forward in the brightness of the sun
and perfumed by the salt of the air
that preserves their beauty
and upholds their light.

A beautiful sense of grace and gratitude, and something of a sense of wonder that few people have anymore. The first stanza reminded me of a week ago when I went camping/hiking in a deeply wooded area of a state park . . . the first night the dew was so heavy that as it dripped from the trees I thought it must surely have been raining.
