Fortress

We draw a line around us in the sand
and build a wall of wet sand upon it
a cautious construction that we can easily remake when the waves come in

Around us I build a hot fire
Beneath us you build a granite foundation
Together we throw rock upon rock, brick upon brick
constructing the doors and rooms and laughter-filled hallways
great halls and welcoming fireplaces
warm and passionate bedrooms and quiet and peaceful libraries

The first cornerstones
of this fortress of peace, love and well-being

I enjoyed this, to me it spoke of safety in relationships, cautious to begin with, then stronger and stronger.
