A false dichotomy I still cannot figure out: God and lover
making someone their life's purpose
I'd condemn them and
secretly do the same calling it something else
I chased a God that I still believe in
knowing no man could hold up to the standards of my worship
Every time I drew near Him
A sacrifice of something dear to me was taken
a personal baggage weighing me down - lifted
But I lie down in the peace of your arms
the beauty of your heart
the gleaming of your eyes
loving you is a sacrifice I cannot give
surely He does not really ask for this?

Sacrifice
People live their lives searching desperately for lovemaking someone their life's purpose
