AT THE START OF THE WAR 1914

War declared against the beastly Hun
The singing of the national anthem
They , the masses sang - belted it out
God save the king , and the empier!
three hearty cheers given - to the King

Long before the end of that war
Those still alive
Realist it were all bollocks!

God save the King would be apt. And everybody else go home with their families. Why do the wars never end?
Good poem as part of your series which I have enjoyed.
