The Final Curtain.

As I lie upon my bed
All I seek is sleep
As dark shadows close about me
I begin to weep
In memories I hold
And what is lost
In terms of what I suffer
And the final cost
The heart no longer bleeds
And yet will not comply
With a soul now cast adrift
Upon a whispered sigh
I shudder in the silence
Of this darkened room
Apart the sliver of
flickering moonlight
This could be my tomb
And so the final curtain
Cuts across the scene
The closing of my eyes
Reliving life within a dream.

Deeply moving, Graham, and I hope not a word of this is true. What a classic work of art!

The sadness is tremendous, the suffering seems eternal, your soul is opened and hurting. Your poetry is sensational. Another piece to bookmark.

Many thoughts drive past the highway of the mind - especially just before sleep.
This journey is wonderfully expressed in this poem. And what a wonderful concept - that of reliving life within a dream.
Thanks for sharing this with us.
