are our minds & thoughts truly free?

The world, indeed, is too much with us...
There is a rumbling in the distance
and he turns around to see shadows;
stunning and seductive in form,
unrelenting in its melodies.
Belatedly it dawned on him,
his imagination was hijacked with permission.
And still they rumble, ever closer; on and on.

I've read this poem several times because it has a meaning to me that may or may not be what you had in mind. I find it profound and important. It brings up the question in our minds if our minds and thoughts can ever reach true freedom. It's beautiful. I like it.
