Stardust for a Friend

The gleaming grand piano
Is oiled to a luster only
Hard hand rubbing can achieve

On the music stand
A folio opened to
Stardust

She's here a half day
In two weeks spotlessness
And order in her wake

Her compensation in an
Envelope always a thank you
Left written on its opened face

We rarely meet as my
Routine demands my
Absence as she visits

At her silent wish
I play Stardust
And leave the folio

In place and closed
Stardust bookmarked
With the envelope

Nicely done! A piano and music are in it, but the poem itself is quiet, almost silent.

Very nice. what else but Stardust would be a fitting accompaniment.

I wonder does she know that she has inspired such a beautiful write.
Yes gratitude oh but so much more.
It has an air of awe and reverence which is to be so admired and it leaves me with such sweet feelings:)

This brought a tear, not because it is such a sweetly sentimental gesture of gratitude, which it is, but because it brought back my mother . . . for thirty years she practiced Claire de Lune, the blue cover of the yellowing pages always somewhere on the piano, coming to it again and again, never feeling she had touched all that it was and could be if only she could find that place in herself that would let it, and her, be in perfect accord.
