This poem is talking about the terrible feeling called loneliness.

Lonely

Are you so
hard to love
that no one loves you?
no one claps their hands
when you win
no one sheds
any tears when you lose
no friends or family
knock upon your door
you hear the sound
of the wind as it moans
you hear the sound
of the rain as it falls
your ears
are wide open
like a microphone
but you cannot hear
anyone say"I love you"

At the start of poem, "No one loves you" and at the end - "cannot hear anyone say"I love you" ", This is very puzzling and a complete turning of plot. I can see there is a point that being lonely and thinking that no one loves me, makes a person callous. eventually over the time the person is completely unable to hear those three words, even if someone says that. The poem is about how loneliness kills the emotions. Beautifully written.
