Here's my response to Anly Stede's challenge

Pirates ( Renrhyme challenge response)

Lines bar taut and black as coal
Sails blood red and bent hard set
Crew wind blown laughs at their goal
A prize to windward gold to get

We sail full and bye my dears
Lines bar taut and black as coal
The merchantman ours due to their fears
The crew wind blown laughs at their goal

Yonder shoal will be their doom
Sails blood red and bent hard set
We drive them toward surf's crashing boom
A prize to windward gold to get

This is really great. It has great feeling and the repetition emphasizes what is happening. I wonder how many ship losses were due simply to fear of pirates. Maybe they did not have to do much at all. Bravo!

You have written a true classic. It is so well written with beautiful images of the sea.

Hide all your women and gold before the pirates reach shore!!

Ahhh the open sea with sails blowing in the breeze and the boat streaming over the ocean. What memories you conjure I'm my mind!:)

Ar! This be a well-made poem. You do know that International Talk Like a Pirate Day is this Saturday, don't you?
