dawn

the lawn winks
diamond, emerald, sapphire
rising from a bed of yawning shadows
and thus adorned with splendor
starts the day

I like the internal rhyme of lawn and yawn. And it's charming to think that lawns can wink at us. What a great way to start the day.

I've read this poem about ten times. It flows so wonderfully.

this is lovely, reminding me of a line from a Nina Simone song called "Feeling Good":

"It's a new dawn,
it's a new day,
it's a new life for me,
and I'm feeling good."

Wow, a lovely way to begin the day, the third line is beautiful. I'm going to see my lawn in a whole new light!
