A short piece of mental distress.

Bitterness is Hard to Bury

You might say that mister Java is compassionate
or you might say that mister Java is overly emotional.
He wouldn't cage a bird but he'd be happy
to shoot a fox on the run!
He tosses crumbs of bread to the birds
and they eat it greedily!
Like a whiskey that is much too strong, Mister
Java taste his own bitterness and it makes him
sick to his stomach!
He curses himself as he walks deeper into the
shadow of darkness where he is not allowed
to see himself
Then he emerges combing his white hair
with his trembling fingers and upon hearing
the thunder he rushes to the window to
watch the lightning flash as the rain
starts to fall
slowly emptying itself mournfully from the sky
He lights another cigar
and opens a can of sardines
He like the smell and he likes the taste of them!
