All energy is vibration. light energy vibrates at exceptionally high frequencies.

The Sound of Sun

The cymbal emits a soundless hum
As it rises above the day
To sing its song of life and death
To all who are its creations

It's song is the heart of life
From single cells to ice fields
It's strength and soul
Moves all that ever was or will be

Solo of atoms melody of molecules
Chorus of monsoons symphony of tides
Roar of hurricanes murmur of shifting sand
All life all movement is its scale its opus

Ra, Horus, Shamash, Inti, Surya, Helios, Tonatiuh . . . the ancient cultures were closer to Nature and revered the sun. It's the one necessity of life that we can't rape, pollute or destroy. Given ozone depletion and global warming it's more likely to destroy us. Sorry to be so negative about such a positive and heartfelt poem written with your usual grace.

This is one of the most inspiring poems I have read in a long time. You made me hear the cacophony of life, of matter, of energy, until it was almost deafening in my mind. What a splendid poem!

I really like this, Joe. It's a bit mystical, a bit profound, but it doesn't have that self-consciousness which leads one to say, "Why don't you shut up and get a job?" I've often thought that, if I was going to pick a god to worship, it would have to be the sun for the reasons you state.

this is beautifully written, i love the idea of the vibration behind all life. it mocks the disorder of current affairs.

i remember a poem i read years ago called "listening to clouds." if only we can listen hard enough.
