In Memory.
I saw it in your sad brown eyesYour auburn hair in age disguised
Did you think of me, when you left home
This empty house and I alone
I miss our walks upon the hill
To sit and watch the sunset till
The breeze grew cold and we'd walk back
Along the rutted carthorse track
Those lazy days down by the Inn
I'd laugh and joke, you'd sit and grin
Did you know then, there was something wrong?
No hint you gave, so silent, strong
Then I came home from work that day
The house was quiet, you'd gone away
Your kidneys failed, thats what they said
As I cradled you upon the bed
I feel my eyes fill up with tears
While down the Inn and drinking beers
Theres others here who would take your place
But none would have your looks or grace
The house is empty cold and still
Replace you no I never will
For years you've shown your love for me
A better dog I'll never see.
