Spirit of the River
Rising riverthe murky water escapes
from its belly
Everything in its path
catching hell
its mission
to capture the weary
and wandering soul
seek no survivor
escape its rage
no courage within themselves
sink beneath
angry waves weaklings enter
into the waters edge
and disappear within its deep
dark image of salvation and sedation
The spirit of the river
Alive and living in its illusion
Baptizing heavy sorrows in their nightmares
of tomorrow on its way
its mouth always wide open
its appetite never fully fed
