thinking about I Never Said That's Alice

whose reasons were her own

 

and LFD3's need to cover miles

 

reading a lot of Sakutarō Hagiwara, and it shows


physical

 

there   on the rock face

in shoes little more than ballet slippers

   rock pants and t-shirt

10mm rope around her   our   waist

 

or   step-breath-breath-step

up a glacier

toward an out-of-sight goal   she goes   we go

 

she   me   one and the same   sometimes

upward   compelled

for a reason seemingly beyond reason

she   me   we   pound out

 

the miles   who knows why   who cares

a little   human    thing

that can't be explained   and needn't be

This is truly mágical. The contrast of the rock and the slippers,
The mystery of she and we, and my very favorite that it all comes down to a little human thing that can't be explained and nedn't be. How wonderful!

I love it. Puzzles and enigmas, and I still, paradoxically of course, feel like I understand it all the better. Maybe that intoxicating mixing of mirrors and depths. I like the use of "we" and "she" and the blending of the seemingly weak and fragile with the seemingly strong and enduring, until it's hard to know which is which, a dynamic reinforced in my mind by the line "a little human thing." I shall have to read some Sakutaro Hagiwara now, I am not familiar with him.
