weightless

~

the first day    after the night you left me

was a long day

you broke my heart     i couldn't breathe or think or eat

i could barely get up and walk

everyone staring at me    pitying me

or so i felt

and you     how did you feel besides well fucked

did you play wes for him

and santana

did you do that thing i liked so much     want still

you broke my little heart

the first day was a long day    the first night alone

thinking of you    thinking of him doing you

as i never could     as you said you never wanted    was a bad night

i got through it    but i never got over it

every kiss that isn't yours    isn't good enough

no else can do what you did for me

but i got through it

and i don't care anymore    love is a myth

i have you    in my memory    the template for perfect mythical love

thank you for that    my life is better for knowing you

and i hope you can say the same

i wish i could have given just a little more

given enough to keep you one more night    had i

we might still be one

Very cutely penned the pain. Separation and memories after are always the best subjects to express and you have done it uniquely.

This reminds me of a devastating day around thirty years ago. But you always eventually get over it. Mostly.

This poem is so full f feeling and painful memories that bring back to each reader the failures of a lifetime of lost loves. My favorite stanza is the next to the last, although they are all powerful. The first one s heartbreaking, then you get to love is a myth, I have you in my memory, as the template for mythical love, and you return at the end with regret. I see the name weightess as what you feel now that she can be delegated to memory in contrast to the heavy weight felt on that first day, and for the many that followed. It is heartbreaking throughout because of the impossibility.
You make a very powerful statement.
