your night, my day

our family of three

~

one can be enough    today it isn't

two is almost always enough

not today    you're bleeding out   your body in crisis

i'm coming    and i'm bringing

well    you know   and we will be three    a family

we will call ourselves a family

he will hold you    you will hold me    between us

you will lie    and between us   you will be

praise the lord    healed with love

we love you so much you cannot help but be healed

and then    let the wild rumpus start!

oh babylove    hang on    we're coming    almost there

god how we love you    hang on

don't do a thing    don't move    just breathe    we're coming

Jamsbo Rockda The PoetBay support member heart!
A wonderful piece with mixed meanings and a lot of emotion.

Elle The PoetBay support member heart!
I think this is a poem that a lot can read in to. I am not clever, I read simply and this was a poem of subliminal depth, this was me as a young mother and not having a clue

"one can be enough ... today it isn't "
So much, given and reciprocated by a third loved one .
So much tenderness ... today it's needed to stop the bleeding ...
Hallelujah, let the rumpus begin!!
Healing with love .. like a family ...
This is a very intense poem ...
Healing is sure to follow.

What a deeply emotional moment, when they are fully aware of this love, and immersed in it, just before the "wild rumpus" starts. That phrase sends all the rowdy images of Sendak parading through my mind, which is a stark contrast to the "night" mood of the poem, making it feel like a pause before a storm. The subtle shift in narrator at the end emphasizes how deeply connected they are in this moment. Very intense.
