Originally written about my brother moving abroad. -24th August 2013.

Going away.

Intentions blind,
What is this feeling inside?
Petals lay upon the carpet -
No sanity, no pride.
So far away.
Hope there will be no change.
So far away,
The missing already arranged.
I might cry,
So please close your eyes.

When I left home the first Christmas after was a killer. I learned later, much much later, that my baby brother cried inconsolably. It is something I could not take back or remedy. When I married and left for good, mum cried at the airport and my brother stood strong and held her. He broke down in the car on the way home. There is a bond between brothers that cannot be broken. I feel this poem. I think I have lived it as well. Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like you had mixed feelings and misgivings. Loved the final 3 lines. Is there another poem to be written after he has gone?
