Nuthin' But An Old Cat
He ain't got nuthin' but an old catand maybe a dozen songs or so
just some offbeat blues and twisted rock
like some crocodile around the block
He's read the Nile, Euphrates me?
When the cat is in the cradle soon
He sings sweet lullabies a silver spoon
Dances tableware ballet under a chandelier moonscape
Where he dons an old archaic cape of absurdist pantomime
Crafting words of thoughts that are never bought or sold for lack
Of better nouns your verbs my boy, running out of time,
Way out back there of his brain there is nothing only that
Maybe a dozen songs or so
He ain't got nuthin', but an old cat
