THE DICKENS OF TIMES! (work in progres)
The days we now live inReminds me of Dickens
Human beings - crushed
Begin - thieving - drinking
Taking drugs - surviving
As best can do
Blocking out reality
Food banks in citys and towns
Choices - to eat - or heat
One or the other - not both!
Homles on the rise
Hopes ruining out
Hopelessness filling the minds
Thats the rub - the bottom line
Many will enter spring - will not see
For they succumbed to The Cold - of winters chill - died
Government saying the old should pick fruit
The young unemployed - the sick - disabled
Work - for benefits
Just like in Dickens times - only a mater of time
The return of The Union Workhouse in every town - city
Some Workhouses - still standing - ready to be reopened
In my home town - the building - that had been the soup kitchen remains
Times are a changing - back in time - we go!
