Colt Plays the Subjunctive Card
It ain't rained in a month and it ain't gonna rain
but me and Colt
are helpin' Mr Stricker work on his baler
on account of he's got hay down
and just because it ain't rained and it ain't gonna rain
don't mean it couldn't rain.
Willie Holmes says
a good washin' never hurt nothin'
but wet hay is bad hay, and Willie don't know everything.
In any case we're tryin' to get that ole New Holland
back in the field
and it's hot and miserable and no mistake.
I say I wish I was anywhere but this where.
Colt says were low under his breath but he don't disagree.
