this is for a very "random" friend i met "randomly". 😉

Gift

I can never listen to it in the same light
Not after you
Not after you showed me through your eyes
And your world what it meant for you
What it could mean for me
To feel accepted
To find peace
And sometimes solitude
Or even direction
In the most unthinkable faces

Do you know, when you smile, I can tell that it's geniune?
The way your eyes light up....
Do you know how infectious your happiness can be?
Do you know how uplifting your contentment can be?
Do you know?
When he wrote that song he thought deeply about you
And gently applied the brushstrokes of music
So he could paint
So he could capture every little detail
Especially the ones that gave it such relevance to you
The relevance you now gracefully ascribe to it
The happy notes in your voice
Or even your texts conveyed how you believed
First, in the meanings you gave to it
Then, in the happiness we found in it
The laughter
The ones he knew you'd give it
Hell knows it wasn't even gift
It wasn't the richness of the voices
It wasn't the captivating steps and innuendos
It was just being there, with you, in the moment
Seeing as you saw
Hearing as you heard
Loving gift and letting go
Finding peace in the midst of everything
Finding joy in solitude
Accepting the good
That's what gift did for me
That's what gift you gave to me
And because my pen is speechless
Or incapable of putting words to thoughts
Incapable of putting in words
The appreciation my soul records
Because i know you understand exactly what it is
What it is that my pen can't find words to express
I'll end it here
And say only these words
The ones you put inside my head the moment we met
The ones I'll always remember everytime
Everytime thoughts of you emerge
THANK YOU
It's finally out
Sigh of relief
And i smile
Because i am aware that you understand
That it is as heartfelt as your laughter
And your smile
I am aware that you know the gift
You know, the one you put as you travel pleasantly through life
The one you put in others' lives
The one that keeps giving.
