THE MINERS BIRD (with thanks to LFG3)

The tiny yellow canary
So small - so little a bird
no one asked - you to go
down the pit , did not volunteer
no one asked you!
put you in a cage - it were not gilded!
took you down
held you out - at arms length
you drop of your perch - mearist wiff of gas knocks you over
sure sign of gas - your taken a side
given a wiff of air - up you get to your feet
up to your perch you flit - so back singing - chirpy again - all's well - one more
over the years - I wonder how many - miners lifes you have saved
you reluctant - miner bird

Good one, Ken. Those little birds deserve some acknowledgment.
