In the shadows

And she stood in the road
as life thundered by
a storm of questions released
memories splintered
a crushing blow
the billboards screamed
their tacky show.

And all she wanted to know was why
who took away the rainbow
who took away her sky.

A forgotten world of shadows
people passed her everyday
yet comfort for a little sparrow
as the greedy rats
gnawed away

Every hope stolen long ago
by evil in the dark
no option left to her
but a rusty bench
in a lonely park

So tell me how can it be
that a heart so badly torn
can be a home of so much love
for even those
who chose to scorn.

And if a lesson must be learnt
don't avert your eyes from the gallows
because one day life may rearrange
and you might find yourself
hiding in her shadows.

This piece is riddled with reality and so elegantly presented it was all I could do to keep my jaw from the desk top. Wonderful verse. Amazing presentation. Exceptional message. You truly hold a noble talent. ~Pam

Daybreaker
This is good!

The tone is superb, especially in the last verse. Some truths hidden behind these words, in deed!
