I WRITE OF WARS!
I write of wars of long long agoTo worn of wars that have yet to come
Not of glamor, in war 'cos there aint!
Those who go, are so naive
They that return, are not the same
As they were the day
They marched off
They will not say they are vets
Oh no, they will say: '' I'm a survivor ''
More will die, from drugs, alcohol, suicide
Than died in the war they went off too!
The medals awarded, sold for next to nothing
For the cost of can of larger in a forlorn attempt to drown the memories
or a fix of a mind-numbing drug
Some ending up in prison
Sleeping rough on the streets, in shop doorways
Gorge Orwell wrote: '' Down And Out In Paris And London '', a story of post WW1
Mostly about men who had survived - THAT WAR! Referred to has tramps,
Tramping The Streets, roads up down across the country, towns, city's, villages,
The country Wide, nothing changes does it!
Divorced, for taking it out on a wife, husband, partner, and of course the children
War, there is no glamor, that I for one know of!
So I will continue to write of war as it is!
