TALKING ABOUT MY POETRY (relervant addishans)
while at an open mic monthly eventasked me when I started writing poetry
I forgot to say the followings:
I liked writing letters, it's my age - I'm sixty-four
writing letters for the likes of me, using pens
dependant on dictionary - I needed a few!
looking for words - rather a difficulty!
a correspondent - said - '' why do write in poetry? ''
of course, I have dyslexia - searching for words - a mix of blessings,
curses!
my letters that I wrote back then, were more like a conversation
I'd write the name of the one I was writing too in lines I wrote
this were before computers and spell-checkers of course!
of course, I have had chriticism - both posative and negerive
I lernt that both - are - posative - in their way - relervant
a reader compeard me to Walt Witman - I'd never even heard of Witman
leat a lone even read him - so not inflouansed by the great man
so I look him up - found he wrote in prose - and poetreiy - and back again
efootlesy - in my work I found simalitis - though has yet not read Walt Whitman
I fear in being a copycat writer thoughout of as being! As yet not read Walt, i were listaing to some one, on the radio, who did not understand the man at all, had the cheek, to voise an opinyant, not basedon knolige, least of all understanding of Walt Whitman as an artist - as a man! That he coulld see bouty of gender, with out being sexal implercatans! walt were happly wed to a woman he lovde. Had eetet suving chilldren! Yet , 'coss, his admeratain of the maile form, the egmanose of a littrtey art fart, saide: '' A clear indecatan, that Whaltman, was secrtetly gay! '' Total tosh!
My works are me - mine alone!
