The nights of winter so - long
Dawns - so long to bring light
All night tossing - turning
Long nights of thinking - fretting
Fearful - of what the coming day
Has in waiting
Just what the overnight news will have to say
When the radio is turned on - what the post will bring
That longest hour before dawn - fearful
Oh how long are the winter nights!
