SNOW IS LOVELY TILL IT's NOT! (Addishans)

Snow I love when falls
Quietly - silent - as it lays
Lands on my hair
Caress my flesh
My boots crunch's the newly falling snow
Underfoot
Children - sounds of their delight - all around
Puppy dogs barking - jumping up to catch the snowflakes
On their tungs - are the children - happy sounds of those
Now enjoying the fun of fresh snow

I recall in years past - snow laying so deep
older kids cuting large snow blokes - builldiong yes - eglows - like Estgemos!
Has sean on the telly!

All to soon, the seean will change
Snow melting - replased slush like sluge - that freezes
Sludge dirty - filthy - yelow stainde - by dogs - by men - out of pubs!
Bladers bursting! Men court short! court short of the loo!
Now ice underfoot - people of all ages sliping - falling - breaking bones
Pipes frezing - bursting!
Cars - trucks - trains - traped in snow drifts! Havock - everywhere!
The fun of snow - now not such fun!

Those with out shelter!
With out homes!
With out heating!
Coverde in snow!
Will frezz to death this winter!

Yes ken, all of that, so true. Past experience.

So true! It is a thing of beauty to see it fall, and a much different situation to live with it for months and see it slush and ice and lose its appeal. Great poem.

Made me chuckle, Ken! I remember so fondly all those scenes you so aptly describe. And, yes, slush is a mess. When I was a kid, Snow stayed all winter and slush was a sign of spring!
