ON ME WRITEING WORLD WAR ONE ((Addishans)) (Finishde)

Now my paternal grandfather Joe - and his three brothers survived World War One
Granddad Joe came back, survived his wounds, less half a lung!
A Turkish bullet left in his shoulder, a memento - a reminder
Of The Bloody Dardanelles!
Grandad Joe -survived his wound sustained at Gallipoli - to go on to survive

The carnage of The Somme!

And to survive - other battles!

Had Grandad, work out the timing of the machine guns the way in twos left to right? Work out how much time he had, to survive the first minuets.
Did Joe, insure he were the first? Maybe in the middle of taking the runs of the ladder?
Or maybe he were the last up and over? He had a wife and a child, Mary back Home! Maybe, Granddad, were just good at maths, and got his timeing spot on!
The Battle Of started in July 1916, went on November! How grandad Joe survived
Odds, I can not explain!

Now I can but wonder how - why he and his three brothers survived World War One!
While yet brothers in threes - fours and fives died - never to come back
Odds and sods - did come back - that's true - only to come to there wounds - gas
Bullet - shrapnel - minds shattered took them!
One mother - who had all her sons killed during THE WAR TO END ALL WARS!
Were presented to her Majesty The Queen of Britain - and - wed to The King Emperor Of The British Empire!
The Queen on being introduced to Mrs. Amy Beechey - The Queen thanked
Mrs. Beechly for her immense sacrifice!
Mrs. Beechey - gave a blunt response:

'' It was not a no sacrifice, Ma'am! ''
'' I did not give them willingly! ''

Another mother who's son's died During That War!
After refused to stand for The National Anthem for years after THAT WAR
It were only not to embarrass her Granddaughter - at a school concert
Now just why - how did my grandfather Joe and his three brothers survive?
While so many brothers did not survive? I cant help but wonder why!
Wondering - just why I am hear able to type my wondering why I am able!

I can't put it any better than Jim. My husbands father survived the Somme. Your question why, I feel, will never have an answer Ken.

You ask good questions, and it's natural that you do so. The war touched your family, as it did mine, and, surely, everyone's.

You've always written of conflicts, you have a good sense of history and a way of expressing yourself clearly. Those who make war might be better served to ask the questions which you ask.
