FROM A CONVERSATAN WITH MY FATHER!
'' Dad, why did you volunteer - to go off to war? '''' You could of, got your self a good job - and be well paid! ''
Dad, lived, in a town ten miles outside, Manchester, England.
Manchester, a major industrial hub back in World War Two.
Dad, could of got himself, a plum job, that were war exempt,
and be well paid! During World War Two - called being -
a reserved occupation!
'' Son, I had to do my bit, to stop Hitler, and his Nazis, from invading
this country! ''
'' And do my bit to free Europe, from Nazism, including - freeing Germany! ''
Dad, had volunteered, for both the R A F, bomber crew, 55,000, of whom died.
At the same time, volunteered, for the Royal Navy. As he waited for the his call up. Dad, dodged out of being in a job, that could of exempted, him from The War!
Now back to our conversation:
'' Son, I had to do my bit, to stop, Hitler, and his Nazis, from invading -
this country ''.
'' And, do my bit to free - Europe - AND THAT INCLUDED - GERMANY! ''
'' Free them all! ''
Eventually, the Royal Navy, sent Dad, his call up papers. Dad, saw service in the Atlantic - became a veteran of all of that! When the war against Hitler and his Nazis were won. Dad, were sent on draft to the pacific - to free Asia - protect
Australia, from the Japanese - empire - building - militarist!
Dad, became - a veteran - of The Pacific - and The Atlantic!
So, dad, a survivor of - WORLD WAR TWO!
Now, sadly, Fascism, stalks the world - again!
