The Blossom Trees

The Blossom Trees

It is a warm, gentle, May afternoon,
The scorching sun shall set, soon,
The days have lengthened, to an owl's dismay,
But a beautiful sight is to be seen in May

For thereupon the dewy palace lawn,
Lie the Blossom Trees, shining proudly till dawn,
An army of the most exquisite pink,
With a beauty so great, ones heart may sink

The shimmering, cloudless sky covers the planet,
Warmly like a soft blue blanket,
As each delicate, newly liberated petal falls,
It stumbles clumsily, slowly, how a baby crawls

Night is falling as the nocturnal animals are appearing,
The pleasant balmy evenings confirm that summer is nearing,
Sparkling high in the sky smiles the moon,
Murmuring goodnight wishes to the Blossom Trees, it's bedtime soon.

Welcome to Poetbay! I love the image in the second-to-last stanza, of the petal stumbling as a baby crawls.
